This past weekend, Team MLG embarked on our most ambitious Cancer200 ride yet and it was nothing short of extraordinary.

Over two days, our riders, support crew, and volunteers journeyed through smiles, grit, wind, and rain, all united by one mission: to raise funds and hope for the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. In doing so, we achieved something truly special: Team MLG raised $212,992, a figure that surpasses even our bold expectations.

Riding Through Adversity

When Saturday dawned, the skies opened and not just with gentle showers. We faced sustained rain, gusty winds, and roads slick with challenge. But rather than discourage us, the weather seemed to amplify the spirit of the ride.

Our riders pulled on their rain gear, clipped in, and rode with determination. They cracked jokes when they could, offered words of encouragement, and helped one another through every wet kilometre. It was a vivid reminder that the journey is not just about the miles, it’s about the people and the perseverance behind them.

By Sunday, spirits were higher, the weather kinder, and the sense of camaraderie stronger than ever. Every turn of the pedal felt like it carried purpose.

Our Riders: The Heart of This Mission

From seasoned cyclists to first-time participants, every rider on Team MLG contributed a piece to our story. Many trained through early mornings and weekends. Some juggled work, family, and fundraising. Some rode in memory of loved ones touched by cancer. Others rode to push their own limits. What they all shared was resolve to make a difference.

A Legacy of Impact

This year’s result of raising $212,992 is more than a number. It’s the latest chapter in a legacy that Team MLG has carefully built over time. In just four years of involvement, our collective fundraising efforts now exceed half a million dollars in support of the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. The ongoing generosity of our supporters have helped direct over $578,000 toward advancing cancer research. That scale of impact is humbling, and it strengthens our resolve to continue.
