Project Details about Gruyere Gold Mine TSF Stage 2
Project Details
Gold Fields Australia appointed MLG as the preferred contractor to deliver the Stage 2 tailings lift at Gruyere Gold Mine.
This significant project, completed over an eight-month period from February to October 2020, involved constructing a 5km HDPE-lined tailings dam lift to support ongoing operations and environmental compliance.
The scope of works included bulk earthworks across the tailings facility to establish stable foundations and embankments. MLG undertook the design and repair of problematic seepage areas in conjunction with the tailings dam lift, ensuring structural integrity and improved water management. Removal of existing tailings pipework was executed while maintaining TSF operations, requiring precise planning and execution to avoid disruption.
New pipework was installed using 560mm Victaulic couplings, with receiver grooving applied to all piping for secure connections and long-term reliability. Additional works included rehabilitation of stockpiles, crushing and screening of seepage filter rock, and modification to the decant structure to enhance water recovery and operational efficiency.
This project demonstrates MLG’s expertise in delivering complex tailings infrastructure upgrades under live operational conditions, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and performance outcomes for Gruyere Gold Mine.
