The Evolution Project involved the construction of a 26.3km haul road traversing both existing tracks and greenfield terrain, connecting Castle Hill on North Coolgardie Road to the Whitefoil ROM at Mungari Mine.

MLG’s scope encompassed comprehensive clearing, grubbing, and stockpiling of vegetation and topsoil within the designated road reserve and approved work zones. The team undertook the development of borrow areas, managing material selection, sampling, testing, planning, and rehabilitation of the pit. Sub-base preparation was executed using locally sourced materials, involving winning, loading, hauling, placing, grading, compaction, and testing across the alignment. MLG also supplied and installed all culverts and drainage infrastructure, including culvert crossings, swale drains, spoon drains, v-drains, diversion bunds, stream training, and floodways. The pavement surface, spanning 468,000 m² was stabilised to meet operational durability standards, followed by a full two-coat bitumen seal applied across 368,000 m² of road surface.

MLG’s proactive approach and deep civil expertise enabled the team to identify scope gaps and deliver solutions that accelerated project timelines. Despite two major weather events, MLG maintained schedule integrity through adaptive planning and responsive execution. Our experience with diverse materials and conditions ensured consistent quality, while our integrated service model delivered a robust, all-weather haulage solution that supports Evolution’s long-term operational goals.
