Project Details
Gold Fields Australia appointed MLG as the preferred contractor to deliver a major crusher upgrade at Agnew Gold Mine.
The project was planned and executed between September 2021 and May 2022, focused on improving processing efficiency, infrastructure resilience, and heavy-vehicle accessibility across the site.
Our scope commenced with cut-and-fill operations to establish stable platforms and access across key work fronts. We constructed internal roads and implemented surface drainage to manage stormwater and minimise sediment movement, supporting safe construction traffic and long-term site performance. In the Fine Ore bin area, foundations were prepared to specification, including bulk earthworks and trimming to design tolerances to ensure structural integrity and seamless interface with existing plant.
The crusher wall received backfill placement in accordance with engineered compaction standards and was rock-armoured to provide durable protection against erosion and impact. Service cabling was trenched and backfilled to deliver reliable power and communications to critical assets, with attention to separation, depth, and future maintenance access. To strengthen heavy-haulage operations, we designed and constructed a new main ramp that improves road-train accessibility, turning geometry, and safety. The works were completed with footprint bunding and drainage measures to control runoff and protect surrounding areas.
Throughout delivery, MLG coordinated tightly with client stakeholders and on-site operations to maintain production continuity, adhere to safety and environmental requirements, and achieve the project objectives on schedule. The upgrade reinforces MLG capability in complex brownfield construction and materials handling infrastructure, providing operational improvements and long-term value for Agnew.
