Celebrating 1,000 Days LTI Free: Kalgoorlie Workshops Sets the Standard

Our Kalgoorlie Workshops maintenance team has reached an outstanding safety milestone: 1,000 days without a Lost Time Injury (LTI). It’s a result that reflects years of consistent effort, discipline and care from every person who walks through the workshop doors each day.

The milestone was recently celebrated on site, where the team came together to mark the achievement and recognise the people behind it. It was also an opportunity to acknowledge Jeremy Foale’s five years with the business as Maintenance Regional Area Manager, a fitting moment given his role in helping shape the culture that made this milestone possible.

What Does LTI Free Actually Mean?

An LTI, or Lost Time Injury, refers to a workplace injury serious enough that the affected worker is unable to return to their normal duties for at least one full shift or day. It’s one of the most closely tracked safety metrics in industries like mining and heavy maintenance, where the physical demands and equipment involved carry real risk if procedures aren’t followed properly.

Being “LTI free” for 1,000 days means that for nearly three years, not a single injury on our Kalgoorlie Workshops site has kept a team member off the job. That’s not luck. It’s the product of proper training, consistent hazard awareness, well-maintained equipment, clear procedures and a team that looks out for one another every single shift.

In an industry where heavy machinery, rotating equipment and physically demanding tasks are part of daily life, a milestone like this doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because safety is treated as a shared responsibility rather than a box to tick.
