This past weekend, Team MLG proudly participated in the MACA Cancer 200 Ride for Perkins, raising over $200,000 to fuel cancer research efforts. The two-day event saw more than 1,850 riders, including 78 cancer survivors, cycle 200 kilometres from Optus Stadium to Mandurah and back. Our cancer survivor, Rob Miller, was among our inspiring riders, whose participation embodied the resilience and spirit of the event.

Team MLG’s Continued Growth

MLG’s presence has grown each year, and 2024 was no exception. Our 28-rider team reflected a diverse and passionate group of individuals. This year, we were thrilled to welcome several notable names to our ranks, including Kirsty Dellar, Deputy Mayor of Kalgoorlie-Boulder; Christina Petz, local Clinical Psychologist; Scott Barton from Barty Mechanical; and Tanya Kemp of Goldfields Revitalise. Each new addition brought energy and dedication to our mission to make an impact through awareness, fundraising, and community involvement.

Our focus now turns toward the future as we strive to continue expanding the MLG Team for 2025. We invite everyone, from employees to community members, to join us in this extraordinary cause.

Personal Stories that Fuel Our Mission

Rob shared heartfelt reflections on the bonds he built with his teammates and the unforgettable moments he experienced. He expressed his excitement for next year, eager to see the team grow and continue making memories.

Another fellow rider, Ron, who has been riding in this event for 11 years, once again joined the MLG team, driven by his deep connection to Kalgoorlie and his motivation—his daughter and friends who have battled cancer. Ron’s participation underlines this event’s significance in fostering community bonds and family legacies.

The Bigger Picture: Supporting Australia’s Largest Charity Ride

The MACA Cancer 200 Ride has grown to become Australia’s largest single-state charity event, raising over $74 million for the Harry Perkins Institute since its inception in 2012. This year’s event saw the largest turnout yet, with participants united by a common cause: to fight cancer. Every kilometer ridden, every dollar raised, brings us closer to breakthroughs in cancer research and treatments.
